Hinostroza recalled, Kero assigned
ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have recalled forward Vinnie Hinostroza from the Rockford IceHogs and assigned forward Tanner Kero to Rockford.
Hinostroza, 23, leads the IceHogs and is currently tied for 11th in the AHL with 9g-13a-22pts in 23 games this season. The Bartlett, Illinois, native has six multi-point games with the IceHogs and notched a career high-tying three points (3a) in Rockford’s most recent win against the Texas Stars on Dec. 2.
Hinostroza became the first IceHogs rookie to lead the team in points when he tallied 18g-33a-51pts in 66 games in 2015-16. Overall, the winger has combined for 30g-52a-82pts in 109 career AHL games with Rockford from 2015-17.
Kero, 25, appeared in eight NHL games this year, tallying one goal and two assists. The Hancock, Michigan native has split the last two seasons between the IceHogs and Blackhawks, combining for 32g-32a-64pts in 94 AHL games with Rockford and 8g-14a-22pts in 72 NHL games with Chicago.
Kero has also scored two goals with three assists in nine Calder Cup Playoff games since making his professional debut with the IceHogs on April 9, 2015 at Iowa.
Next Home Game: The Rockford IceHogs return to the BMO Harris Bank Center to take on the reigning Calder Cup champion Grand Rapids Griffins on Saturday, Dec. 9. Puck drop is 6 p.m. and the Hogs will be hosting their annual Girl Scout Night during the contest. Rockford has won each of the first three games in the season series with Grand Rapids, including a pair of shootout victories.
